A little bit of how we met...
We met as teenagers at a birthday party of a mutual friend and and became instantly inseparable. Right away, we knew that we didn't need to look any further now that we have found "the one". We complement each other in every way and most importantly make each other happy and smile. After 7 years full of fun, laughs, friendship, support, growth, and love, Geoffrey proposed and we married in August 1998. We are a team, best friends and we enjoy life and spending time together. Communication and having an understanding and respect for the other’s point of view are very important to us. We have a tremendous amount of love and appreciation for each other and feel that we have built a strong partnership.
Growing our family...
Ever since we began dating, we discussed our desire to someday have a family. We adore children, and being able to grow a family has always been the most important thing to us. Although we were faced with infertility, we both passionately believe we are meant to raise children. Adoption would make it possible for us to finally become parents and to have the family we always longed for. With our hearts wide open, we started our first adoption journey and we were fortunate to welcome our son Noah in 2007. Adoption has proven to be the greatest blessing in our lives, and we wouldn't have it any other way!
Noah is is an amazing person and will be a wonderful big brother! He is kind, compassionate, outgoing and adventurous. Noah is doing well in school and likes playing sports, especially hockey and horseback riding. He loves building things with his hands and loves to play with our two little dogs, Yumi and Poppy. Noah is fond of babies, he constantly talks about his new little brother or sister and how he can’t wait to hold them and hug them and play with them. He already loves this child as much as we do and is so anxious to meet them!
Our HOBBIES and more...
We are both obsessed with real estate and love to renovate houses. In the past years we have been able to buy and renovate several properties, and we now own eight rental properties in Belgium and the Netherlands. As a second home, we also own a beautiful two-story penthouse in one of the most sought-after cities in Belgium. It consists of a large living room, a beautiful island kitchen, 3 bedrooms with wardrobes, 2 fully equipped bathrooms, a sauna and a terrace overlooking the marina.
We love to TRAVEL, both domestically and internationally. We go to the Dutch Venice at least twice a year, where a boat is essential, because there are no roads; people have to travel by water or on foot over the lovely wooden bridges.
Our favorite destination so far is Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean. Travelling to England, Italy, France and China was also fantastic! Whenever Noah wishes to go back to China we will return to visit his native country. We have not travelled to the USA yet, but it is on our wish list.
As a real estate developer you are technically self-employed, which gives both of us the luxury of being able to travel all across the world when we so desire, and we plan to continue exploring the world with both our kids in order to expose our family to other cultures.
We are big FOODIES and love going out to restaurants but we certainly love to stay at home and cook ourselves. I (Chantal) love to cook, whether it's fish, pasta, vegetables, or meat, and I like to try new recipes.
CHRISTMAS has always been with Chantal's mom and at our house. We have tons of ornaments and lights and start decorating the tree the week before Christmas to get into the holiday spirit. Every Christmas Eve though, Chantal’s mom will buy each of us a new ornament for that year to put on the tree. We also have socks for each of us filled with mini goodies. Traditional food at Christmas would be Chantal’s famous roast beef and her mom’s honey-glazed ham.
FAMILY and Friends...
Family is very important to us. Our second child will be welcomed into our loving family by excited grandparents, uncles, aunts, and (first) cousins who all live close by. We also have a close circle of friends that might as well be family, including amazing friends that have adopted their two beautiful daughters from Philadelphia, and friends that have been adopted themselves. They all can’t wait for our new addition! We are so grateful to have this support and strong family core.
Should you choose us, we would teach your child to ski, swim, sail, and play any sports he or she enjoys. Most importantly though, we will teach them to love and respect everyone. An individual’s character is what sets them aside from everyone else, and we want our children to learn and acknowledge that and become the best contribution to society he or she can be. We both come from rather religious backgrounds however neither of us is overly religious. That being said, we both share a strong belief in morals and values which we like to pass on as parents. We believe in respecting and treating others like you would want to be treated yourself, as well as love for everyone and anyone despite their race or religion.
THANK YOU for taking the time to read about our life together. We want you to know that we are very committed to give your child the best life possible and we would be honored to give your child all of our stability, energy, support and good fortune. Most importantly, we have a tremendous amount of love to give and extended family and amazing friends to do the same.
We are perfectly happy with an open adoption but that is a decision that is made jointly with the birth parents. While we hope you can become a part of our family, we will be respectful of your wishes and comfort levels. You will always be welcome in our lives in whatever way you feel most comfortable.
We cannot tell you how much we respect your position and would never pretend to know what you are going through. We can only imagine how difficult this process is for you and we would love to be there for you to help and support you. We truly admire your strength and courage in this search for the right family to love and cherish your child.
We would love to know anything and everything you would like to share about yourself and hope you feel comfortable talking to us. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to get to know us a little better. We would LOVE to get to know you!!
