I love to travel and would love to be able to show your child the world. I have been fortunate to have visited many different countries and experience all types of cultures. My favorite city is Rome, Italy and the furthest I have been is South East Asia, Cambodia. I look forward to going to all of the places in between with your child and experiencing the many different cultures and adventures the world has to offer.
My all-time favorite place to be is by the ocean. My parents sacrificed a lot in order to provide us with a home by the beach. We would spend our childhood summers there and as we got older, our parents made us work during the summer, insisting on a strong work ethic that remains in me today. I was everything from a chambermaid to a waitress, making my best friends along the way. Today, my family, friends and I continue to spend time by the ocean. Going back to the shore is like going back in time - a small town where kids still play stick-ball in the streets, biking riding and skates boards are the main form of transportation and lemonade stands are on every corner. At night, there are contests of who can catch the most lightening bugs, movies on the sand, lifeguard relay races, BBQs and on really hot nights - a quick dip in the ocean! I'm so excited for this child to be a part of a place that brings me some much joy.
I enjoy running 5k's and 5 Mile races with friends I'm slow and leisurely and dread every minute of it but love the feeling of doing something healthy and physically challenging. My favorite part is when its over! My group of friends and I usually plan some type of social event around the end of the race, which is usually my motivation to finish!
I love to create crafts - my mother and I have a small monogramming business. It's more of a hobby but we enjoy making housewares and jewelry together. I love to needlepoint and read too. I'm part of a twelve member book club that has been together for over three years. I love to cook at home with friends or go and try new restaurants. I enjoy skiing, swimming, watching sporting events and concerts.
I was born and raised in a suburb of New York City, the middle of three children. My sister Megan is the oldest, then me, and then my brother Jimmy. In grammar school, I was in plays, was a Brownie & then a Girl Scout and was on the soccer team. I attended an all girls high school where I met and made many of my life long friends, continued to play soccer and was on the event planning committee.
I had a very happy and fun-filled childhood, with family always around. My parents, Gail and Jim, also grew up in the same town where I was raised. My parents were happily married for over 35 years before my father passed away.
Today, I live back in my hometown, opting for the peace and tranquility of a beautiful area over the noise and bright lights of the big city. Most of my family is within five miles of each other.
My home is located only a short mile from my mother, who is going to be very involved in helping with raising this child. We see each other almost daily and have dinner together regularly!!
My home is in one of the best school districts in the country and offers a vast amount of recreational activities including sports, theater and educational groups.
We live a short train ride to Manhattan and enjoy the wonderful cultural things the city offers, especially Broadway.
One of my family's holiday traditions is going to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the Radio City Christmas Show - I still enjoy it every year!
Family and friends are very important to me and I enjoy spending time with them.
My older sister is Megan, a married mother of three amazing children and lives just a few miles away. She is my best friend and my biggest fan all rolled into one. I would never be the person I am without her support and encouragement.
Younger than me is my beloved brother, James. I completely adored him and still do. He passed away when he was far too young, just over eleven years ago but left behind the greatest gift he could give to his wife and our family - a daughter, Fiona. She is a very special little lady, now almost 11 years old. I am super close to both my niece and my sister-in-law, Denise. In fact, Denise has since remarried a wonderful man, Joe and they now have a baby boy together, Joseph. Denise and her family live in the same town as my sister and her husband Pete, and all of us spend a lot of time together, including holidays and birthdays.
My two nieces, Michaela and Fiona and two nephews, Peter and Matthew are the best things in the world. We are very close and I attend as many games, concerts, plays as possible. I'm a big fan of being with them, whether its the movies, breakfast, riding our bikes or just stopping by their houses to chat. I love and enjoy everything about them and they are beyond thrilled at the idea of having a little cousin to adore.
My friends are from all parts of my life. Many are from early childhood and college days and are still strong relationships in my life. They are such positive influences on me and I am so excited for this child to meet my family and friends.
