I'm excited to build a family based on love, laughter, and the joy of adventuring through life together.
Hello! I'm Ellen. | Hola! Me llamo Ellen.
I live in a small beach town in California, the kind of place where a kid can grow up picking wild blackberries, chasing birds along the lanes, and playing with their friends on the beach. My family is a big part of my life, and I am close to my parents, sister, and brother as well as a large extended family of cousins. I have always wanted to be a mom, and while I’ve enjoyed professional success and have traveled the world, I know that building a family is where my heart truly lies.
I think life is best experienced with an open heart, and am planning to create lots of play time with my child, to cherish family traditions – from nightly dinner to birthdays, and to allow my child to blossom into who they truly are. My job teaching at a university means that I will have summers free to be a stay-at-home mom, and a flexible schedule all year.
Please know that I want you to be a part of your child’s life always. I hope to hear from you and I look forward to sharing my family and my life with you.
Originally from California, I grew up in Florida and in the Dominican Republic. As an adult I have chosen California as my home, and love having my large and supportive extended family of cousins and aunts here.I have always loved to travel and have been fortunate to visit Ireland, Spain, France, and Switzerland, among other places. Exploring the world and all its beautiful cultures is something I look forward to sharing with my child. I have a small garden with lots of herbs and veggies, and love to cook. As a child some of my favorite memories were making food with my mom, and I can’t wait to do the same with my child, sitting down to eat a grilled cheese or fresh spaghetti sauce we made together. I'm also an artist and a designer and I love to draw, so my home is filled with art supplies ready for my child to be creative with. On summer vacations I like to go camping, to swim, and to just be lazy on the beach.
One of the most fun parts of teaching landscape architecture is field trips to parks and playgrounds - basically getting paid to be outside in great places. I took a group of students to San Francisco last weekend and played in a new playground, visited the Japanese gardens, and a fog garden at a museum. Also just fun to bond with young people and hear their perspective on the world.
Walking to class yesterday I passed this curious goat. The animal science students had their herd out grazing on one of the campus greens. This one was apart from the rest, interested in where everyone was headed, and what they were doing. What a cutie!
