We are Matt and Amanda and we're on an adventure to find our baby!!!
We want to take a minute and say thank you for considering adoption, taking the time to read about us, and looking at a few pictures. We cannot begin to fathom what you must be going through, but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts in choosing life. Your strength and courage are admirable, but most importantly the love you have for your unborn child.
Our names are Matt and Amanda and we truly feel God has placed adoption on our hearts. We have talked about having children from the beginning of our relationship but we never dreamed of the journey God planned for us. Through our ups and downs with infertility we feel our journey has not only made us stronger individually but also has shaped and molded us into being a better couple. We hope as you read through our story, you can get a glimpse of who we are and the love we have for a child.
We promise to love your child unconditionally, teach them about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, support them, and be there for them through the ups and downs of life.
Matt and I met in college and quickly fell in love. We have been together for almost ten years, of which the last three we have been married. We are not only husband and wife but best friends who truly love being together with one another. I work as a registered nurse in surgery and Matt does accounting for a transportation company. I am a only child, but I was raised with cousins close in age so it has always seemed as though I've had siblings. Matt has two older biological brothers, two more younger brothers, and a sister who were adopted. We both were raised by loving families who have helped us become who we are today. After college we moved from our hometowns and settled in a cute, small town nestled in the foothills of Northwest Georgia. We always knew we wanted to have a family, but we wanted to take time for ourselves and to finish our education first, little did we know having children would not come as easily for us as we would have thought. We began trying to have children shortly after getting married, encountered infertility, and have gone through endless fertility tests and procedures. Through all of it we are left with unexplained infertility. It was a very difficult season of life for us both and often times very lonely and dark. After stopping treatments and taking time for ourselves is when we felt God tugging at our hearts toward adoption. Pursuing adoption has stirred up excitement in our souls that we have not felt in quite sometime. We have so much love to give to a child and we will see that his/hers needs are met. They say it takes a village and we are quite certain our family and friends have much love to give to our child as well.
It’s hard to believe it’s already the middle of August. Matt and I chose not to go on a vacation this summer. I would be lying if I said seeing everyone’s beach pictures did not make me a little jealous. Oh how I love the beach. I think in a past life I was a mermaid lol Matt enjoys the beach but not nearly as much as I do. Give him the mountains and a cooler climate and he’s set. I often dream of one day having our little join in on our adventures. I see other families walking up and down the beach with their little in their arms or walking beside them splashing in the waves. It warms my heart to hear the giggle of a baby or the laughter of a child enjoying a innocent time of their lives. One day we will have this although I wish that day could come sooner. Matt and I both have to remain strong in our faith and know as long as we’re faithful, God will be faithful.
And let endurance have it’s full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing- James 1:4
This bible verse has become a new favorite of mine. It seems to accurately describe our time of waiting during our journey. Not just with the process of adoption but from the beginning of feeling a tug on our hearts to become parents. I am certainly a type A personality type of gal and most things I try to have control over. I like to get things done and move on to the next project. I have certainly learned my lesson, it is all in God’s timing and will no matter what you are striving for in life. If something you want to happen for you in your life is taking longer than you would like, just think what a loving God we serve to make us wait until we are fully and confidently able to move forward and have peace about it.
