Our Love Story:
Mark and I met during our senior year at Bemidji State University, dated for five years and then got married in an intimate service at a country church built by my ancestors. In sickness and in health is the wedding vow that means the most to us as a couple. Many years prior to getting married, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and spent many weeks in a hospital trying to get better to no avail. At one point I decided to give Mark an “out” in the relationship so he could find a healthy girlfriend, and a more promising future. Instead of walking out the door that day he moved the IV pole over, gently nudged me to move over and climbed into the hospital bed saying, “I’m not going anywhere” while holding me tightly.
It was at that moment I knew he was my forever and that we would be able to tackle anything in life together.
Always being there is a promise he’s always kept (first to me and now our greatly loved Bubs) and just one of many reasons I love him dearly.
Life is full of ups and downs and I'm grateful that we have each other to lean on through it all.
We live in a small town just an hour from Minneapolis/St. Paul and 2 1/2 half hours from our extended family in northern Minnesota.
Our home is in a kid friendly neighborhood with a fenced in backyard and many parks within walking distance. Anthony is currently redecorating his room (Minnesota Vikings to Minnesota Twins) and helping to make sure everything is ready for Boo's room, which is right next to his, too.
The best part about our home is that we're surrounded by our "Becker-amily". We have wonderful friends who pop in for dinner or we watch their children when needed. We really feel connected and a part of our community.
Our home is far from being a mansion, but we love where we live and feel fortunate that it's filled with much love and laughter. It's a perfect fit for us.
Upon coming home, Anth immediately called Mark daddy and they created a special bond. I so enjoy watching the two of them together and seeing the love they have for each other. Whether it’s skating on a frozen rink, reading a book together, putting together a Lego set, watching a game on television or practicing batting in the backyard, I’m so thankful that Anth has a wonderful, hands on dad and that I married an incredible man.

After being together for over 17 years, I can confidently say that Tonja is the most positive, caring and patient person I know. Her love for her “Hubs and Bubs” is great and she constantly showers us with affection. She loves being an English teacher to her middle schoolers, but nothing can compare to being Anth’s mom. Their favorite days together are in the summer when they fill their time playing board games, spending time with friends, hosting pool parties in the backyard and just being together.
