We are a camping, MN Twins and family date night lovin' family who's excited to be on the adoption journey once again.

Welcome to the Hubs, the Bubs, and the Boo's Page on Adoptimist!

Mark is definitely the best Hubs around, Anthony is our so greatly loved Bubs and the Boo is the name he lovingly created for his little sister or brother over a year ago when we started praying for his little sibling every night while giving thanks for the day. Me? I’m the lucky wife and mom who is reminded daily that life is good every time I sit back and realize all that I have been blessed with.

A Little Bit About Us -- Our Amazing and Wonderful and Completely Blessed Adoption Story

Every struggle in life provides an opportunity. We learned many years ago that we were unable to have children of our own, which ended up bringing us the biggest blessing of our lives -- Anthony James. When we met Anth's birth mommy everything just clicked and felt right; when we met our Bubs we knew he was the sweet little boy we had been praying for. We immediately fell completely in love with both of them and felt an instant connection. Thinking back I can still remember the song that was playing on the radio when our birth mommy called to ask us to be Anthony’s parents (Colbie Caillat’s “Realize”), the long embrace birth mommy and I had knowing that we would be linked together forever because of our son, and the moment we met the beautiful almost 18 month old with long eyelashes and heart-stealing smile. Instantaneously there was so much love blooming!

We look forward to meeting another special birth mommy who will share her story, hear about our family and hopefully together we will feel an unmistakable connection that will link us forever together. We look forward to becoming a family of five (along with the family dog, Geno) and continuing our adventure of life together.

Our favorite quote that completely captures the faith we have in our adoption journey: "An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but it will never break." -- A Chinese Proverb

I cannot wait to see how we are connected!

Who We Are

Our Love Story:

Mark and I met during our senior year at Bemidji State University, dated for five years and then got married in an intimate service at a country church built by my ancestors. In sickness and in health is the wedding vow that means the most to us as a couple. Many years prior to getting married, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and spent many weeks in a hospital trying to get better to no avail. At one point I decided to give Mark an “out” in the relationship so he could find a healthy girlfriend, and a more promising future. Instead of walking out the door that day he moved the IV pole over, gently nudged me to move over and climbed into the hospital bed saying, “I’m not going anywhere” while holding me tightly.

It was at that moment I knew he was my forever and that we would be able to tackle anything in life together.

Always being there is a promise he’s always kept (first to me and now our greatly loved Bubs) and just one of many reasons I love him dearly.

Life is full of ups and downs and I'm grateful that we have each other to lean on through it all.

Adoption Diary

Cousin Love

We’re up north at Grammie’s house for a few days helping out with Britton while Auntie Jami has surgery tomorrow.

Tonight these two played and played until it was time to get into bed.

I caught the two of them in the bathroom chatting while brushing their teeth.  It was the sweetest moment of cousin love.

It doesn’t matter that Anth is ten and Brittie is three.  These two just love each other unconditionally.  I’m so thankful they have these special moments of being together.

Birthday Surprises

Typically my own birthday is very low-key (which is just the way I like it), but my friends as well as mom & sister made sure this year’s celebration would be one I would never forget.

The girls put together a BEAUTIFUL get together with thoughtful gifts, a homemade cake (Tracy is AMAZING as always), a signature drink (delicious!), my favorite music, pedicures (a favorite), dinner at a gorgeous restaurant (that served crab cakes—yum!) and lots of conversation and laughter (which is always what my soul needs). I had the best day with them and feel fortunate to have friends that really know and love me so completely.

The surprises didn’t end there, though.

I knew Manda and my mom were up to something when they told me to have my bags packed and ready to go. Turns out the two of them planned a girls trip to LA for my birthday. On Thursday I woke up to constant text messages from random people wishing me a great day (thanks little sister as well as the unknown senders) as we left for CBS studios and a day of being a part of the Price is Right production. We didn’t get a chance to “Come on Down”, but we did manage to have so much fun! Along with a birthday filled full of game show adventure we also spent time on our trip checking out Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood sign, Farmer’s Market, etc.

I can’t recall a birthday being this wonderful with so much fanfare; nothing could ever top all of this.

This year I only have one wish—Boo. I don’t know if our child is already born, a boy or girl, from Minnesota or further away, light skinned or dark, a baby or an 18 month old like how Anth was when he came home. What I do know is that Boo is so wanted, prayed for everyday and there’s an abundance of love just waiting to be showered upon Anth’s little sibling by the three of us as well as our amazing tribe of friends and family members.

We are so excited to meet you and welcome you home, Boo.
