I moved out of my parents' home in July 2010. I moved into a townhome in Schererville. Dan's parents were my neighbors. Our yards separated our homes. Dan's mother passed away unexpectedly in December 2010 and Dan moved home to be with his Dad.
In the summer of 2011, I was in the backyard cutting my grass. Dan peeked through his blinds in his bedroom and watched me cut my grass. Later that summer, he offered me a beer over the fence after I cut my grass. From then, we started dating. On December 5, 2012, Dan proposed and I accepted. He moved in and we were married on October 5, 2013.
In April 2014,we went to Disney World. We love all things Disney. In September, we participated in St. Baldrick's and raised over $2,000.00.
In January 2015, we adopted a dachshund, Schnutz, from a rescue group.
In March of 2016, we sold our town home. We moved in with my parents for a few months. On May 1, 2016, we moved into our new home in Crown Point.
We moved into our home in May of 2016. We are on the same street that Dan lived on when his family moved from South Holland to Crown Point when he was starting high school.
Our home is a quad level. It has three bedrooms on the top level including the master. On the third level which has the family room, we have a guest bedroom. We also have three bathrooms. It is a big house for the two of us and two dachshunds.
I'm the second oldest out of six kids. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother. I grew up in Hammond, IN. My parents have been married for 43 years. Two of my sisters are married and each of them have 4 kids. I love being around my nieces & nephews.
I'm currently working full time as a paralegal for a criminal defense attorney in Munster, IN, but when we adopt, I will become a stay at home mom.
We also have two dachshunds, Lucy and Schnutz, who are my babies. They follow me around the house and love to be near me.
I love to bake and cook. Dan loves taking baked goodies into work to share with his co-workers. Dan's favorite are my Reese's PB cup brownies. In December 2010, I started a tradition where my sisters and my mom come to my house and we bake Christmas cookies. That year, we were at my house and then every year after we went to another sister's home. In 2016, it came full circle and came back to me. We were in our new home in Crown Point.
My late grandma taught me how to crochet. I crochet blankets. All my nieces and nephews have received a baby blanket when they were born. I'm working on a blanket for my sister who is due to have her son on my birthday which is June 13th.
I have a younger sister who is married and has two kids. My mother passed away unexpectedly in December 2010. My father remarried in December 2012 and I have two step sisters.
I'm a big kid at heart. People may be intimidated by my size, but I wear my heart on my sleeve. I work as a pipefitter and when I get home and decompress I enjoy watching funny movies like Disney and Pixar. I enjoy laughing and those movies definitely help me get my mind off work.
I enjoy fishing. Christine's dad bought a boat a few years ago. A couple weekends every month during the summer we enjoy taking the boat to one of the many lakes in the area to fish. Last year, Christine's parents rented a house on a lake an hour away from Ft. Wayne for their kids and grandkids to enjoy. Christine and I bought all the nieces and nephews kid size fishing poles for Christmas to get prepared for the week on the lake. The kids loved fishing and swimming. We even got a tube and surprisingly Christine loved tubing. We even rented a pontoon boat. I love spending time with family.
Every Christmas Eve, Christine and I go to mass and then we go to my grandparents' house for dinner and presents. My father's cousin and cousin's children play instruments and we sing Christmas carols.
