We would first like to thank you for taking a moment of your time to get to know us, and consider us as parents for your child. As we write this, we’re sitting on our back porch and trying to put ourselves in your shoes, neither of us can imagine how difficult this decision must be for you. The bravery, courage, and selflessness that it takes to make the decision you are making is awe-inspiring. The fact that your life, our lives, and your child’s life will be forever effected by your decision is humbling to us. To even be considered is an honor.
We hope that our words and pictures tell a little bit about our story and give you a glimpse into our hearts and lives that we long to share with a child. We hope you can begin to see who we truly are --how much we love, how wonderful our friends and family are, and how excited we are to become parents.
It was clear the first time we met, over 11 years ago at a college football tailgate, that we had a special connection. We quickly realized we had found in each other the soulmate for whom we had both been waiting. Our shared values and commitment to family drew us together and we discovered our personalities are the perfect complement for a strong and happy relationship.
We have very similar personality traits which create the firm foundation of our relationship. Our bond is strengthened each day by having great communication and a deep respect for each other. We see ourselves as a team that shares in our relationship and home responsibilities, eagerly anticipating sharing the most wonderful responsibility of raising a child together.
We enjoy life each and every day and never forget how to have fun. We want to shower our child with love and affection so that he or she will always feel safe and secure, will know how very special they are, and how lucky we are to be their parents. For us, being really good parents means raising our children to be the best they can be, helping them discover who they are, setting a positive example through our actions, and being there to support them throughout their lives. We look forward to teaching him or her to have compassion for the world around us.
We had a fun pool day today at my brother and sisters-in-law’s pool. We have so much fun playing pool games with our niece and nephew. Chicken Fights are one of our favorites. Monroe and Uncle Gordie always win ;) Days playing in the pool are a summer tradition for all of us. We can’t wait to teach our little one how to swim, and join in the fun.
Blue birds are probably our favorite birds that live in our yard/garden. We have a few bluebird houses all around the yard. We found our first nest with eggs this week. We love watching them hatch and grow, mom and dad feeding them and teaching them how to fly. Their eggs are so beautiful too!
