We first met in 2007 when Jason was the director of a summer camp, through a mutual friend that worked for him (secretly trying to set us up). We reconnected several years later through the same friends at a summer pool party. Now, after 3 years of marriage, Jason finishing law school, Gina transitioning to stay-at-home mom, and a cross-state move, we’re excited to grow our family.
Our son is 8 years old and attends a school across the street from our home where he’s finishing second grade and looking forward to our summer beach trip. He’s a happy-go-lucky kid, loves baseball, music, all things superhero, and Friday family movie night is his favorite.
Jason was a full-time youth pastor immediately out of college for nearly 11 years. He went back to law school and now works as a staff attorney in Georgia’s court system. Gina worked as a legal assistant at a private firm for over ten years but now is really enjoying being able to walk our son home from school every day.
We love being together just the three of us and our crazy dog, Reep, but also spend a lot of weekends with our families exploring the mountains here in North Georgia and all of the great parks in this area. We’ve gotten in some great camping trips the last few years with some pretty hilarious memories.
We have a great church we attend about a mile from our home where Gina has gotten the opportunity to work in the children’s program and Jason teaches a Sunday School class. Becoming a part of our small-town has been a fun experience as we see familiar faces most places we go and town events whether a concert or an art festival seem to bring such a great crowd.
Our home is modest, but has four small bedrooms and two bathrooms. We have a fenced in backyard that we spend a lot of time playing in. We love our older neighborhood! We have sweet retired neighbors on both sides and a handful of our son's friends from school live in walking distance. We walk together in the neighborhood most nights when it's nice weather and enjoy trying to tame this front yard with the many plants.
Jason has done nothing but surprise, challenge and charm me since I first met him. I won’t tell you that he is a perfect husband and father because that doesn’t exist, but I can say his patience, kind heart and gentleness with me and our son has made him pretty close. When we were dating what drew me to him most was his close relationship with and loyalty to his family and his compassion for people. That compassion carries over strongly into his career as an attorney as he works with people. As a Dad, Jason is silly, loud and playful, affectionate, patient and our son adores him. He grew up with a great example of a father that led their family with a quiet, humble spirit and loved their mother well. I’m blessed that Jason is the same for our family. He doesn’t do anything less than a 1000%, but his family is his utmost priority, and he makes sure that we always know that.
The pictures will give you a hint of how beautiful Gina is, but won’t tell you anything about her best attributes. You’ll never meet anyone more willing to give sacrificially or love as deeply. I fell in love as I watched her be an incredible mama - patient, caring, protective, and full of life. She’s as determined and brave as she is kind and generous. Her relationships are personal and her loyalty unshakeable. She loves to travel, goes into silent laughter at mispronounced words, weirdly craves strawberry poptarts, and always does whatever it takes. Her joy is with her family, and her rest in Jesus.
